Plan & billing
Manage your church's Psalmly subscription — the plan that powers your site, giving, and member portal.
What's included in each plan?
Psalmly has three plans:
- Starter — free. Everything a church needs to get online: the done-for-you website and public site, events, the member portal, and online giving (your church keeps 100% of gifts, minus Stripe's processing fee). The public site shows a small "Powered by Psalmly" badge.
- Community — paid. Everything in Starter, plus the "Powered by Psalmly" badge is removed. Further Community features arrive in later updates.
- Growth — paid. Everything in Community, plus a custom domain and priority support (arriving in later updates).
Giving itself is never gated — a church on the free plan can receive gifts in full. Plans cover the Psalmly product, not a cut of your giving.
How do I upgrade my Psalmly plan?
Open Settings from the admin sidebar and find the Plan & billing section — only a church owner sees it.
- On the free plan, each paid plan shows an Upgrade button. Selecting one takes you to Stripe's secure checkout to enter payment details.
- Once subscribed, the section shows your current plan and a Manage billing button. That opens Stripe's billing portal, where you can switch plans, update your card, or cancel.
When you cancel, your church returns to the free Starter plan at the end of the billing period — nothing is lost; the "Powered by Psalmly" badge simply reappears.
Who can change the plan?
Only a church owner can subscribe, change, or cancel the plan. Admins and members never see the Plan & billing controls.
What does my plan change about the AI assistants?
Your plan affects what the assistants can do and how much you can use them, not which model answers:
- AI actions — the admin assistant taking actions (creating events, assigning volunteers, posting announcements), not just answering — unlock on the Community and Growth plans. Starter is answer-only.
- A monthly AI-usage allowance scales with your plan (see ai-assistants.md); past it, the assistants ask you to wait or upgrade.
The chat model itself is the same on every plan — both assistants run on fast, grounded models tuned for accurate, cited answers (with an automatic backup model if the primary is briefly unavailable). Upgrading takes effect on your next question — no app restart, no waiting period.
