Recurring gifts

How to set up a gift that repeats — choosing weekly, every-two-weeks, or monthly, when the first and next gifts are charged, and how to pause, resume, change the amount or fund, or cancel a recurring gift at any time.

A recurring gift is a simple way to give faithfully without thinking about it each time — it repeats on a schedule until you decide to change or stop it. You're always in full control.

One exception: if you set the gift up through a giving campaign, it stops by itself on the end date shown before you confirm — there's nothing to cancel.

Setting one up

Start a gift the usual way (see Giving to your church), and when you choose how often, pick a repeating schedule instead of "once":

  • Weekly
  • Every two weeks
  • Monthly

Pick your amount, fund, and payment method just like any gift, confirm, and you're set.

When gifts are charged

Recurring gifts follow a natural rhythm:

  • Weekly gifts are charged on the upcoming Sunday, then every Sunday after.
  • Every-two-weeks gifts start on the upcoming Sunday, then repeat every second Sunday.
  • Monthly gifts are charged on the 1st of next month, then on the 1st each month after.

The give screen always shows you the date of your first scheduled gift before you confirm, so there are no surprises. Each time a recurring gift is charged, you get a receipt by email, exactly like a one-time gift.

Managing a recurring gift

Find your recurring gifts on your Giving page — in the mobile app, tap Manage on the recurring card. On each gift you can:

  • Pause it — temporarily stop the charges. Nothing is collected while it's paused, and your schedule simply waits for you.
  • Resume it — pick back up where you left off whenever you're ready.
  • Edit it — change the amount or switch the fund it gives to. Your new amount takes effect on the next scheduled gift. (If the gift is part of a giving campaign, its fund is set by that campaign — cancel it if you'd like to give somewhere else.)
  • Cancel it — stop it for good. Cancelling doesn't touch any gift already given; it just ends future ones.

Changes apply going forward, so you'll never be double-charged for making one.

Want to change how often, or which card?

The schedule (weekly, every two weeks, or monthly), the payment method, and your choice about covering fees all stay fixed for that gift. To change any of them, simply cancel the existing one and set up a new recurring gift with the settings you want — it only takes a moment.

To manage the cards and bank accounts available to you, see Your saved payment methods.
