Giving to a drive

Sometimes a church is raising toward something specific — a new roof, a mission trip, a van for the youth group. Psalmly calls that a drive: a goal, a deadline, and a thermometer that fills up as the church gives.

A drive is always attached to one of your church's regular funds. The drive is the push; the fund is where the money actually lives.

Where you'll see it

If your church has a drive running, it shows up on that church's Giving page in the app — on web and on mobile — with the headline, the story behind it, how much has been raised, and how long is left. It's also on your church's public page, so you can share it with someone who doesn't have an account.

If your church is running more than one drive, the most pressing one is featured and the others sit just below under Other current drives.

Giving to one

Tap Give on the drive and the usual giving flow opens, already pointed at the right place. You choose the amount, pick a saved card or bank account, and give. You'll see which fund it's recorded under before you confirm — a gift to "A new roof before winter" might be recorded under your church's Building Fund, and both are shown.

If you'd rather give to something else, there's a Give to something else link right there to step back out to the regular funds.

You don't have to give online for it to count. Cash and checks your church records are part of the same total, so what you drop in the plate counts toward the thermometer too.

Making it recurring

You can make a drive gift repeat — weekly, every two weeks, or monthly — and Psalmly will stop it automatically when the drive ends. You never have to remember to cancel it, and you'll never keep getting charged for a drive that's finished.

Before you confirm, you'll see exactly what that means, in plain numbers:

Your first gift is October 3 and the last is December 3 — 3 gifts in all.

If the drive ends before the cadence you picked would even collect once, Psalmly tells you and suggests one that fits, rather than quietly setting up a gift that would never happen.

You can change or cancel a recurring drive gift any time from your giving page, the same as any other recurring gift.

How it shows up afterward

In your giving history, a drive gift leads with the drive's name, with the fund noted underneath — so "A new roof before winter" reads back the way you gave it, not as a fund code you don't recognize. Your emailed receipt says the same.

Your year-end tax statement lists the fund rather than the drive. That's intentional: statements are an accounting record, funds are the accounting buckets, and drives come and go. The amount is identical either way.

Anonymous giving

Choosing to give anonymously works exactly the same on a drive. Your gift still counts toward the thermometer, and your church's reports won't show your name. You'll still get your own receipt and your gift still appears in your own history and statement — anonymity hides you from the church's reports, never from your own records.
