Publishing and sharing a bulletin
How admins put a finished bulletin in front of the congregation — publishing it to the app (and what lands in members' Updates, with no phone alerts), printing the folded sheet, emailing the weekly edition, the optional public-page toggle, and editing after publishing.
When a bulletin is ready, open Preview & share. From here a bulletin can reach your congregation three ways — in the app, on paper, and by email — plus an optional spot on your public page. They're independent: do any, all, or none.
Publish it to the app
Publishing is the main step. It makes the bulletin live in the app — its home — so your members can open and read it in Psalmly. Publishing also drops a note in each member's Updates feed so they know this week's bulletin is ready.
It does this quietly — there are no phone alerts. A weekly bulletin shouldn't buzz everyone's phone the way an urgent announcement might; it simply appears in their Updates and on your church's home screen, ready when they are.
Once published, a bulletin stays fully editable. Fix a typo or change a hymn and the in-app copy updates instantly — there's no need to re-publish, and members aren't notified again. (The notice in Updates is sent once, when you first publish.)
Print it for the people in the room
Click Print to open the print view. You'll see a preview and a choice of two formats:
- Booklet (the default) — your bulletin folded into a real booklet: a calm cover, the content inside, and a back cover with a QR code that opens it on a phone. A short bulletin is one letter sheet folded once (four panels). A longer one automatically becomes several sheets you nest and fold together, like a stapled program — the print view tells you how many sheets it is and how to assemble them. For a single sheet, just print double-sided (flip on the long edge) and fold in half.
- Plain sheet — a single upright page, front and back, for when you'd rather not fold.
Then use your browser's print dialog as usual. To save a file instead of printing, choose Save as PDF in that same dialog. The QR code points to the public bulletin when you've shared it publicly, and otherwise to the in-app version (members sign in to read).
The printed bulletin is always light and theme-colored, with your church logo — it's the one view that doesn't follow dark mode, because it's made for paper.
Email the weekly edition
The weekly email sends the bulletin to your church's inboxes, reflowed to read well on any device. Each email has a one-click unsubscribe link in its footer.
Bulletin email unsubscribes are separate from announcement unsubscribes — a member can step away from one without affecting the other, and unsubscribing never touches their account or security emails, or what they see inside the app.
Show it on your public page
In the share step you'll find "Also on our public page." Turn it on and this bulletin becomes readable by logged-out visitors on your church's public website, under a Bulletins section in the site navigation — a lovely way for someone deciding whether to visit to see what a service looks like.
This is the one genuinely optional audience, so it's a deliberate switch (off by default). Members who are signed in always see every published bulletin in the app; the public sees only the ones you've opted in. For more on your public website, see Your public page.
Removing a bulletin
Need to clear a mistake or tidy up an old draft? Open the ⋯ menu on any bulletin in the Bulletins list and choose Delete.
- A draft is removed right away, with an Undo in the corner in case you change your mind.
- A published bulletin asks you to confirm first, because it's live: deleting it takes it out of the app, off your public page (if you'd shared it there), and removes the note from members' Updates. An email you've already sent isn't affected — those can't be unsent — and this can't be undone.
A note on the snapshot
A bulletin is a snapshot of the week you gathered. If you edit a published bulletin, the in-app and public copies update right away — but a printout you've already run and an email you've already sent went out as they were. And the bulletin won't pull in new events on its own; you decide what's on it. For how the gathering works, see Creating a bulletin.
