Joining a church
The ways to join a church in Psalmly — scanning your church's QR code or opening its link, typing a join code, or accepting an emailed invitation.
However you join, the church appears under Your churches on your dashboard, and you're in as a member.
Scan your church's code
The easiest way. Many churches put a welcome sheet on a bulletin board or in the bulletin — your church's name, a square QR code, and a short web address.
Point your phone's camera at the square (you don't need a special app — the normal camera does it) and tap the link that appears. You'll see your church's page with one button. If you're new to Psalmly, create an account first, then tap once to join.
If you'd rather type than scan, the same sheet prints a short address like
psalmly.app/j/HILLSIDE-7Q2K. Type it into any browser and you'll land in the same place.
Type a join code
If someone gave you just the code — it looks like HILLSIDE-7Q2KMP — sign in and type it into
the Your join code box on your dashboard, then tap Join. If you're already in a church,
use Add a church → Join with a code instead. A church's code is the same for everyone and
can be shared freely.
Accept an email invitation
If an admin invited you directly, you'll get an email with a link. Opening it shows you the church — its name, its logo, and the role you're being given — with one button to accept. Nothing happens until you press it. Targeted invitations can also grant an admin role, and they're tied to the email address they were sent to.
A few things to know about invitations:
- They're personal to the invited email address.
- They expire after a couple of weeks — ask the admin to resend if yours has lapsed.
- Once you've accepted, the invitation is used up; the church simply appears on your dashboard.
If your code doesn't work
- "That code doesn't match a church." Usually a typo. The characters after the hyphen never use the letters I, L or O, or the numbers 0 or 1 — those are the easiest to mistake. Check again against what's printed.
- "This church's join code has changed." The poster you scanned is out of date. The page will point you at your church's own page so you can still find them — ask at the welcome desk for the current code.
- "This church isn't set up yet." Your code is fine — the church just hasn't published its page yet. Sign in and type the code into the Your join code box on your dashboard instead.
- It says you're signed in as someone else. Tap Not you? on the join page to switch accounts.
After joining
Open the church from your dashboard to step into its member space — the prayer board, events to RSVP to, groups to join, announcements and bulletins to read, the directory to get to know people, and giving if your church has it turned on.
It's worth getting the Psalmly app on your phone too — it puts the prayer board, the bulletin, and this week's events in your pocket. (The bulletin lands quietly in your Updates inbox and by email rather than as a phone alert.)
If you ever want to leave a church, open your dashboard, tap the … menu on that church's
card, and choose Leave church.
